Among the many reasons Treecard is on a mission to plant one billion trees… saving the bees! 🐝

Trees are not only a great food source for bees (it’s where they get most of their nectar), but also an essential habitat. 🌳🌲

Here are some ways to help save the bees:

  1. Use your Treecard to plant trees as you spend 💳, or join tree-planting parties in your area. Shade trees like basswood, linden, maples and willows produce high nectar and pollen 🌱
  2. Plant a bee garden, filling it with plants rich in pollen and nectar. New England asters, goldenrods, buckwheat, sage, honeysuckles, dahlias, sunflowers, phacelia, lavendar and bee balm are just some examples of bee-friendly plants. 🌿 Even a window box will make a difference!
  3. Although they may be seen as weeds, allow clover and dandelions to thrive in your lawn. Better yet, use clover in your grass seed mix! 🤗
  4. Avoid pesticides 🙅
  5. Create a bee bath by simply filling a shallow bird bath or bowl with clean water. Arrange pebbles and stones inside so that they break the water’s surface, bees will land on the stones to take a drink after foraging and collecting nectar all day! 💦
  6. Support your local beekeepers and organizations by buying locally-made honey and beeswax products 🍯
